Principal Jordan S. Weitberg will speak at the 2017 Estate Planning Summer Institute on July 20, 2017. The two-day program is presented by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education ("NJICLE") in cooperation with the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Section in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Jordan's session titled "Counsel Fees in Estate Litigation" will focus on the recovery of a litigant’s counsel fees from an estate or trust as well as the shifting of counsel fees to other parties in probate litigation. Jordan will discuss several cases recently decided by the New Jersey Supreme Court on the subject, as well as lower courts’ application of the Supreme Court precedents.
From the NJICLE website:
The 2017 Estate Planning Summer Institute features high-level topics and a seasoned faculty. The two-day seminar addresses the key issues in estate planning today for all attorneys, even those not exposed to estate planning in their practice. In-depth sessions have been designed to evaluate financial issues and planning techniques so that you can better understand and evaluate estate plans, for both the tax and financial advantages they offer and for their limitations. In addition, the Institute provides you with a comprehensive review of issues not found in most other estate planning CLE programs, including estate planning for businesspersons and foreign domiciliaries, and ethics. To provide a refresher on important topics that can expand your practice, the program also reviews the generation skipping tax, elder care, trusts, portability, and counsel fees.
CLE credits available.
