On Thursday, February 24, 2022, New Jersey Principal Angela Turiano will speak on a panel at the New York State Bar Association's joint meeting of the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section’s Securities Arbitration Committee and the Dispute Resolution Section’s Securities Disputes Committee.
Angela will speak alongside Tracey McNeil, the Ombudsman at the Securities and Exchange Commission, and Michael Edmiston, current president of PIABA. The panel will discuss the benefits and costs of arbitration between investors and their brokers and investment advisers and concerns about the use and potential misuse of mandatory arbitration clauses. The group will also discuss current pending legislation, including the Investor Choice Act, designed to address concerns with mandatory arbitration clauses.
