On Saturday, August 4, members of Bressler’s Women’s Initiative Network volunteered at Saint John’s Soup Kitchen in Newark, New Jersey. Ann Marie Effingham, Olivia Jones and Risa Rich prepared and served hot breakfast to the homeless and hungry.
About the Program
In our kitchen, we have hundreds of wonderful volunteers preparing and serving up over 100,000 meals each year. Started back in the mid 1970s, we began serving sandwiches to the few who came to our door. Fast-forward to today and you will find that we serve upwards of 700 hot meals each day. St. John’s Feed the Hungry program is funded by free-will donations from faith-filled people. We are able to feed all who come without benefit of government aid thanks to the support of our doers and donors who offer their time, talent, and energy, which ultimately is our greatest asset.
