Bressler Principal Jordan S. Weitberg will speak at the First Annual Estate Planning Summer Institute on July 23, 2015. The two-day program is presented by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education in cooperation with the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Section in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Jordan's session titled "Counsel Fees in Estate Litigation" will focus on the recovery of a litigant’s counsel fees from an estate or trust as well as the shifting of counsel fees to other parties in probate litigation based on recently-created exceptions to the American Rule that the parties bear their own attorney’s fees.
From the NJICLE website:
The First Annual Estate Planning Summer Institute will present topics relevant for all individuals, even those not exposed to the estate planning in their practice. In-depth sessions have been designed to evaluate financial issues and planning techniques so that you can better understand and evaluate these proposals in not only determining the tax and financial advantages they offer, but also their limitations. In addition, the institute will provide a comprehensive review of the issues in estate planning for businesspersons and foreign domiciliaries and ethics. The session will review the generations skipping tax, elder care, trusts, portability and counsel fees.
CLE credits available.
