On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, Partners for Women and Justice (“Partners”) and Bressler hosted a cocktail party to welcome the Second Annual Ronnie Ann Powell intern. The ten-week summer program is designed to provide a law student with hands-on experience representing victims of domestic violence. This year’s scholarship recipient is Chinsu Shajan, a Rutgers Law School student.
Chinsu Shajan, spoke about what working at Partners means to her. Chinsu's powerful words ended with this: "I am very grateful for the opportunity to work for Partners for Women and Justice, knowing that the work they do each and every day gives a voice to those voiceless victims while making them feel less alone."
The internship was established by Partners and Bressler in memory of Ronnie Ann Powell, a Principal at Bressler and a long time volunteer at Partners, who died suddenly in 2015. Partners is a domestic violence organization that Ronnie was devoted to for many years and which the firm continues to support though the Pro Bono partnership.
