Miami, FL. (November 9, 2023) – Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. proudly announces that Miami Principal Alex J. Sabo has been selected for the Florida Securities Dealers Association (FSDA) Lifetime Legacy Award. The FSDA is the nation's oldest and largest state securities association, dating back to 1933.
On November 2, 2023, the FSDA held its 90th Anniversary Reception, during which it bestowed its Lifetime Legacy Award on four individuals: Ralph Allen of Allen & Company, Florida's oldest investment firm, founded in 1932; Tom James, Chairman Emeritus of Raymond James Financial, Inc., one of the nation's largest independent securities firms; O' Bannon M. Cook, the former Executive Director of the FSDA for whom the FSDA Annual Scholarship is named; and Sabo, a Financial Institutions Principal in Bressler's Miami office who focuses his practice on representing financial services firms and insurers. The honorees were recognized for their exemplary service to the organization.
Upon receipt of the award, Sabo said, "To receive this award is indeed an honor, but to receive the recognition along with Ralph Allen, Tom James, and O'Bannon Cook, who have contributed so much to the FSDA, makes it very special."
Sabo's relationship with the FSDA dates back more than 30 years. He twice has served as its president, the longest-serving member of the organization's Board of Governors, and as a Chairperson of its Legislative Committee in 2021. Sabo was instrumental in drafting and passing Section 517.34 of the Florida Statutes (Protection of Specified Adults), which the FSDA proposed.
Since 1933, the FSDA has been the voice of the securities industry in Florida. Its mission is to advocate for the industry, provide education opportunities for members and Florida's investing public, and serve the industry before Florida legislators and regulators.
In addition to his leadership within the FSDA, Sabo is a leader within Bressler. Complementary to his financial institution's practice, Sabo co-leads the firm's Senior and Vulnerable Investor Group, which counsels broker-dealers, investment advisers, and insurers who confront issues affecting the senior and vulnerable investor population.
“Alex’s long history of leadership and service to the Florida securities industry is exemplary,” said Diana C. Manning, Bressler’s Firm Managing Principal. “Recognition by the FSDA of these contributions is well-deserved.”
Sabo is a cum laude graduate from University of Dayton School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida.
