Expansion Headed by Corporate Transactional Lawyer Kim D. Larsen
Washington, DC -- June 28, 2017 -- The law firm of Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. announced today that it has opened an office in Washington, DC.
The office, located on Connecticut Ave., establishes a local foothold for Bressler's Business & Corporate Law practice, enhancing the firm’s ability to provide on-the-ground legal counsel to clients in the Metro DC area. Bressler's DC office complements the firm's existing offices in Florham Park, NJ; New York City; Birmingham, AL; and Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.
Bressler’s Washington, DC office will be led by Kim D. Larsen, whose 30 years of experience ranges from lawyer to corporate executive to venture capitalist and angel investor. His practice focuses on advising and representing clients on a range of corporate matters, with an emphasis on domestic and international mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and commercial transactions, including intellectual property and licensing matters, securities offerings and corporate governance matters.
Larsen frequently advises private business owners and executives regarding capital raises, intellectual property rights, and other key strategic issues that impact the growth and success of small and medium-size companies.
"Kim has done it all – he has been the lawyer, the CEO and investor," said Bressler firm-wide Managing Principal Brian F. Amery. "He is the perfect choice to head up our DC office where we see many opportunities for our firm."
Larsen, who has run his own firm and businesses, has also served in an of counsel capacity for Bressler. Additionally, he was partner-in-charge of the Cologne office of Mayer, Brown & Platt and a partner in that firm's DC office.
Larsen’s keen insight and extensive experience further enhances Bressler’s Business & Corporate Department, which currently includes principals Michael Ostrowsky and Tobias Ziegler.
Ostrowsky represents clients in real estate and corporate transactions including institutional lenders, purchasers and sellers. He has structured and closed complex commercial real estate transactions of all types and sizes, ranging from healthcare, to multi-family properties, to industrial and commercial projects. He chairs the firm’s Real Estate practice and is a member of the Business & Corporate team.
Ziegler represents domestic and international clients in a range of business and commercial transactions. His extensive knowledge includes advising on the formation of companies, joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, asset purchases, partnership and co-operation agreements, commercial contracts of all types, real estate and financing transactions, taxation and U.S. work visas for international business executives. He also has substantial experience handling licensing and intellectual property matters.
Larsen has represented clients in multi-billion dollar transactions, joint ventures and securities offerings (including IPOs) and critical corporate governance matters. He was lead outside counsel for Deutsche Telekom in the purchase of a 20% interest in Sprint and in the formation of a joint venture with France Telecom and Sprint.
Larsen helped found Ciena Corporation and Corvis Corporation, two companies he was instrumental in taking public in high-profile IPOs with market caps over $10 billion. He has also served as Co-CEO, General Counsel and head of M&A at Corvis and Broadwing Corporation and represented Broadwing in its sale to Level 3 for $1.6 billion.
As founding member of Blu Venture Investors, an angel investor group, and Capital Creation, LLC, a start-up accelerator, both in D.C., Larsen has participated in over 25 tech start-ups.
Larsen received a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.A. from Brigham Young University.
