FLORHAM PARK, NJ (June 2021) - Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. has launched a new Diversity Pipeline Internship Program in partnership with the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State.
The program is geared toward Schreyer Scholars from underrepresented communities, with the goal of providing those students with unique, hands-on experience working in a law firm. The program will provide opportunities for the scholars to experience the legal profession and to learn about and prepare for the law school application process, alongside practicing attorneys and law student summer associates.
The scholars will have a coordinated schedule, which will introduce them to both the practice and the business of law. They will also gain valuable work experience by assisting and shadowing Bressler professionals from a variety of key departments, including human resources, marketing, and billing.
“The hope for the program is to enhance the perspectives within our firm and help build a stronger, more inclusive base of professionals to solve our clients’ problems,” said Bressler Principal and Scholar alumnus, Brian Ellis, who is also the incoming Chair of the Scholar Alumni Society Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. “This really brings together so much of what has driven me since the time that I was a Schreyer Scholar years ago. Bressler’s commitment to an inclusive, dynamic and engaging professional environment is second to none, and this new partnership is just yet another example of Bressler raising the bar.”
“We, as practicing attorneys, have a shared commitment and responsibility to ensuring that the legal profession reflects the world around us and this pipeline program is just one example of efforts that can help to achieve that goal,” said Bressler Principal and Chair of Diversity and Inclusion, Lauren Fenton-Valdivia. “I look forward to working with these bright students both to assist them in their individual success and to work towards improved diversity and inclusion in the profession, and our firm. “
“In addition to experience working in the legal profession, the internship program provides our students with several attorneys to turn to for support and guidance as they pursue the challenging and highly competitive process of becoming lawyers”, said Lynette Yarger, Assistant Dean for Equity and Inclusion in the Schreyer Honors College.
The Schreyer Scholars will work at Bressler from June 21 to July 30, 2021.
