BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (September, 2023) – Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. is pleased to announce that Birmingham Principal Louis Mendez has been elected President of Region VII of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), covering Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi.
The HNBA is a united, not-for-profit, national membership association that represents the interests of more than 78,000 Latinx attorneys, judges, law professors, legal assistants, law students and legal professionals in the United States and its territories. For the past 50 years, the HNBA has been creating opportunities and providing educational and professional resources to advance the representation and influence of the Latinx legal community.
“I am honored to serve as Region VII’s President and hope to use this position to advance the cause of all Latinx lawyers in the Deep South,” said Louis. “Our community is a growing force in the region, and I will work to ensure that our interests are well-represented in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi."
Louis’s election as Region VII President reflects his commitment to empower legal professionals and advocate for issues that impact the broader Latinx community. As President, he will join fellow Board of Governors members to ensure the execution of the HNBA’s local, regional and national programs.

Mendez is a Principal in Bressler’s Insurance and Financial Institutions practice groups. He has experience in a broad range of litigation matters, including representing insurers in contestable life insurance, coverage, and interpleader matters, defense of securities arbitrations and class actions, and other commercial disputes. He also serves as Chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, which has been instrumental in the firm’s success in receiving its Midsize Mansfield Certification.
