Patel to Serve as Chair of the Section’s State Regulation of Securities Committee

Austin, TX. (Jan. 11, 2024) – Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. is pleased to announce that principal Ronak V. Patel was appointed Committee Chair of the American Bar Association's (ABA) Business Law Section's State Regulation Securities Committee for three years. The ABA's Business Law Section is a global network of more than 30,000 business law professionals. It provides educational resources to its members, assists members in serving their clients ethically and competently, and furthers the development and improvement of business law. The State Regulation of Securities Committee is the ABA Business Law Section's group for practitioners focusing on state regulation of securities. It monitors and reports on practices and current developments involving all aspects of state and provincial securities laws, rules, and administration, including regulating securities offerings, broker-dealers, investment advisers, issuers, and their representatives.

Patel is a principal in Bressler's Austin office and a member of the firm's financial institutions and business and commercial litigation practice groups. He represents clients across Texas and nationwide in various complex litigation issues, focusing on securities regulatory and financial litigation matters. Patel has served as lead counsel in several high-profile investigations involving Ponzi fraud schemes, broker misconduct, complex investment products, and alleged breaches of fiduciary duties.

Before entering private practice, Ronak served as Deputy Securities Commissioner of Texas. He worked very closely with state and federal securities regulators across the country while holding leadership positions with the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA). While at NASAA, Patel earned many awards, including the NASAA Patricia D. Struck Award, the NASAA Outstanding Team Service Award (Dodd-Frank Studies Working Group), and the NASAA Outstanding Team Service Award (Auction Rate Securities Task Force).

Patel earned his law degree from Baylor Law School and his undergraduate degree from Baylor University.
