Jessica Gonzalez was quoted in a recent Curbed article titled "A New Yorker’s Guide to Cannabis Legalization in New Jersey."
In reference to the what legalization means for the legacy market in New York and New Jersey, Jessica stated that until there is enough competition, the legacy market (a.k.a the black market) will still succeed. “People might just rather go to their dealer who they’ve had a relationship with for years,” especially since cannabis will be taxed in the state's recreational market, and prices will start out higher.
In regards to what New Jersey legalization means for New York, Jessica went on to state, “New Jersey is going to be the catalyst for Northeastern states, especially in the tristate area, to legalize[.] I believe that New York will get it within the 2021 budget[.]”
