Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reports that the health insurance marketplace has enrolled 4.17 million consumers.
During the sixth and final week of open enrollment on the health insurance marketplace, healthcare.gov (also known as the federal “exchange”), 1.3 million consumers signed up for health coverage through the online platform. Due to last minute demand, CMS extended enrollment through December 17, 2015. Consumers who enroll through the exchange thus will have coverage effective January 1, 2016. [LINK]
Approximately 1.5 million of enrollees for January 1, 2016 were new consumers. According to CMS reports, 121,592 consumers have enrolled at HealthCare.gov from the State of New Jersey.
